Wheels
We make wheels for road, commuter, mountain and track bikes. We can do colours and odd spoking patterns. Specific kit will cost more than generic items (so your wheels will cost more). If you ask for something that we cannot get, then we will let you know and try to find a suitable alternative.
We can make, fairly, cheap wheels (in the £150 mark - for a pair) but there may be some compromises. They will still work just as well but may be heavier, less aerodynamic and less colourful. So if you want an ultra-light weight bike, then be prepared to pay a little more.
Our wheels are made to very high tollerances (we aim to true to less than 1 mm) and are designed to last.
We can make your wheels in a selection of cross and spoking patterns. We actively avoid "snowflake" patterns and advise against them but if you want to have a pair of "snowflake" wheels, we can make them.
Most of our wheel sets are very light, robust and distinctive. They are a great addition to your bike, making it stand out from the crowd.

Pricing your new wheel set
The price of a wheel set can vary and is dependant on purchasing costs. We use a range of suppliers to get parts, through a range of media (online and mainstream suppliers). When thinking about a wheel set, remember that a wheel is made up of four components (in general); rims, hubs, spokes and spoke nipples. Lighter wheels tend to be more expensive (especially carbon rims and hub bodies). Complex spoke patterns also tend to cost more, as well (click here for more information).
For standard coloured wheels (silver or black), we use Sapim or DT Swiss double butted or bladed spokes. On our coloured wheels, we use Electric Deposition or Powder Coated spokes in general. The coloured spokes tend to be either simple butted or plain guage, so they weigh a little more. However, we are in negotiations to start importing some very cool, coloured double butted, twisted and bladed spokes. Plain guage spokes cost £1 per spoke but butted or bladed spokes cost a lot more (between £1 an £3 per spoke - depending on the brand and model). For a 32 spoke wheel, this can add up to £100 for just the spokes! (Click here to see spoke pricing)
The lighter or stronger the rim, the more expensive the wheel. Rigida DP18s may cost you about £30 per rim, whereas a pair of Mavic Cosmic Carbons may set you back around £2,000! The same applies to mountain bike rims.
Hubs can also vary in in price; from £50 for a Campagnolo Mirage rear hub to around £500 for some of the rarer or super lightweight hub sets. We can build onto Shimano or SRAM spec' hubs, if required.
Don't forget that labour costs for wheel builidng are often quite high (click here for more information) and that truing a wheel can take some time (especially where there is an array of different components from different manufacturers).
